Adding discounts to customer accounts internally

Whether you're running a promotion for your customers, or are rewarding longevity, discounts are always a great part of any business. Sometimes though, a discount isn't something you want to advertise to your customers. With Billsby you can apply discounts to your customers directly in the app.

The first thing you'll want to do is make sure that you have the discount created. Your discount will have the option of choosing All plans or Select specific plans during creation, so you'll want to make sure that the customer you want to apply the discount to is on a plan that is covered by the discount. You'll also be deciding the value of the discount here - either percentage or monetary. If you choose monetary you'll need to set up the price for any currencies you operate in. Once you're happy with the discount, you don't need to create the coupon - this is only if you plan on giving this out to customers, but you can do this at a later date.

To apply the discount, head to Subscriptions and select the customer's subscription you want to apply the discount to. Then click on Add a discount in the top right corner.

Once you've done that, a side modal will appear and you'll be asked to choose the discount you want to apply - only the discounts that can be applied to this plan will appear in this section. Once selected, you'll be reminded of the discount value, and asked whether you want this applied as a Lifetime or a fixed term discount - lifetime means this discount will be applied to all instances of automatic charging until discount is removed. Fixed term will give you another box allowing you to choose how long you want this discount to be applied for. After the fixed term, the discount will automatically expire and the customer will be back on their regular pricing.
