There may be times that you need to charge your customer on a one off basis. To do this, you can use the one time charge feature. To capture a one time charge, navigate to the individual customer profile of the customer that you'd like to charge. Then in the top right menu, select the Capture one time charge button.
Here, you just need to enter the amount you want to charge the customer, the currency you want to do it in, followed by a description. The description you input will be shown on the invoice that is sent to the customer, so you should aim to write something that will help them easily identify what the charge is for.
Create a one time charge API
Capturing one time charges is also possible using our API, giving you the potential to charge one time fees automatically with some development work on your end. You can see our API documentation on this here.
Email notifications
By default, an email notification is sent to customers when they are charged a one time amount. These emails notifications can be toggled on or off and customized in Settings > Configuration > Email notifications > Payments, credits and refunds.
If a one time charge is successfully captured, the Positive one time charge captured successfully email will be sent to the customer with a link to their invoice.
If a one time charge payment fails, the Positive one time charge payment failed email will be sent, notifying the customer there was a problem charging their card.
