What happens if I change a linked allowance from optional to forced?

If you decide that you want to change an allowance from optional to forced for one or more of the already linked plans, any customers already subscribed to those plans without the allowance will not have the allowance automatically added to their subscription. If they later choose to add it, it will then be forced and will not be able to be removed.

If the customer has already added the allowance to their subscription when it was optional it will not become forced. The customer will still be able to remove the allowance from their subscription, but once removed if they add it back it will then be forced.

How do I delete an allowance?

If you head to Products > Allowances, you'll be able to see a list of all the allowances that have been created in your Billsby account. Here, you can delete the allowance by clicking Delete on the right side. If the allowance is linked to a plan, this button will be greyed out as you'll need to unlink it before you can delete it.

To do this, Navigate to Products, plans and cycles > Allowances > Edit > Plans. Here you can remove the linked plans by clicking the bin icon next to the plan. Make sure to save your changes by scrolling down and clicking Save changes to allowance.

What happens to existing subscriptions when I delete an allowance?

If an allowance has been completely deleted it will be removed from all of the subscriptions it's been added to. When this happens, the customer won't receive a pro-rated refund for any included units of allowance they were entitled to. If they used units of the allowance over any included units, they'll still be charged for these units at the end of their current cycle.

Important:

We won't notify the customer of the allowance removal, so it will be up to you to notify any affected customers.

Can I add an allowance image?

Yes! You can upload an image to be shown to customers in the checkout and self service account management. In step 1 of creating an allowance, just switch on the Allowance image toggle and then upload your image. Files must be a minimum of 400 x 400 in size and high resolution .png or .jpeg files work best - we’ll resize to suit.

Limiting the number of units of allowance a customer can consume.

If you want to limit the number of units of allowance a customer can consume, you can do this by using a capped pricing model. With capped pricing, you decide how many included units your customer receives. Usage is then capped at this amount and customers will not be able to use more than their included units.

What happens if I change the included units of a capped allowance?

When you create an allowance that has a capped pricing model and you want to change the number of included units offered with the allowance, any customer's subscription with this allowance will be affected immediately. If more included units are added, customers with the allowance will be able to use these extra units in their current cycle without being charged. If some included units are taken away, customers with the allowance must be capped at the new included unit amount. If a customer has used over the capped limit, they will not be charged for the additional units, but they must also not be able to use anymore units of the allowance.

What happens to customer's allowances when they change their plan?

If the customer is changing their plan immediately (by selecting the today option) they’ll need to pay for any allowance overage remaining on their existing plan in order to change their plan. If they choose to change their plan at the end of their current cycle, they’ll be able to continue using their allowances until the end of the cycle and they’ll be charged for their allowance coverage as normal at the end of the cycle.

No matter when the customer chooses to change their plan, any allowance they have on their current plan will not be automatically added to their new plan, they’ll have to do this in the plan change flow.

What's the minimum allowance price?

Even though payment gateways will only accept a minimum charge of 0.50, we’ll accept a unit price for an allowance as little as 0.01. This is because it’s assumed that the customer will be charged for multiple subscription elements when they are charged for their allowance, likely to bring the price above 0.5. If this isn't the case, we'll round up to 0.50 so that the transaction is accepted by the gateway.
