Making add-ons and allowances forced with specific plans

Updated over a week ago

You might want to make an add-on or allowance a mandatory part of a plan. This means that during the customer checkout journey, they won't get the option to add it - it will be automatically added to the subscription and cannot be removed. The forcing of add-ons and allowances is done at plan level, which means that you can have the same add-on/allowance forced for some plans, and not for others.

To force an add-on, you'll need to make sure you toggle it on when you're linking your plans. The toggle should be green.

You can change this at anytime by heading back to your add-on and hitting Edit. This process is exactly the same for allowances.

When you force an add-on or allowance with a plan, an "extra charges apply" disclaimer will be shown in the checkout.

Changing a linked add-on or allowance from optional to forced

If you decide that you want to change an add-on from optional to forced for one or more of the already linked plans, any customers already subscribed to those plans without the add-on will not have the add-on automatically added to their subscription. If they later choose to add it, it will then be forced and will not be able to be removed.

If the customer has already added the add-on to their subscription when it was optional, it will not become forced. The customer will still be able to remove the add-on from their subscription, but once removed if they add it back it will then be forced.
