Editing add-ons

How making changes to your add-ons and how this affects your existing customers

Updated over a week ago

You can edit the configuration of your add-ons and allowances by going to Products > Add-ons from the left hand menu of your Billsby account.

As you edit the configuration of your add-ons, you'll want to consider how these changes may affect your existing customers, who already have the add-on linked to their plan.

Changing the price of an add-on

If you change the price of an add-on, any existing customers with this add-on will be charged the new price from their next cycle.

Removing a linked plan from an add-on

If the you remove a linked plan from an add-on, and a customer with that plan has the add-on as part of their subscription it will not be removed from their subscription. If the add-on is removed from the customer’s subscription by the customer, or the user at subscription level, they will not be able to add it again as the customer’s plan will no longer be linked to the add-on.

If you re-link the add-on to the plan, customers that did not remove the add-on from their subscription will not notice a change as this add-on will still be attached to their subscription. If the add-on has been re-linked to the plan as an ‘optional’ add-on, any customer that removed it will be able to add it again.

Changing a linked add-on from optional with a plan to forced

If the you change an add-on from optional to forced for one or more of the already linked plans, any customers already subscribed to those plans without the add-on will not have the add-on automatically added to their subscription. If they later choose to add it, it will then be forced and will not be able to be removed.

In the same instance, if a customer has added the add-on to their subscription when it was optional it will not become forced if you change the add-on to forced. The customer will still be able to remove the add-on from their subscription, but once removed if they add it back it will then be forced.

Deleting an add-on

If an add-on has been completely deleted in your Billsby control panel, it will be removed from all of the subscriptions it has been added to. When an add-on is removed from a customers subscription in this way, a pro-rated refund will not be issued by Billsby for the add-on removal and you will be responsible for notifying and refunding customers associated with the change.

What happens to a customer's add-ons when they change their plan

If the customer is changing their plan immediately (by selecting the today option) they’ll lose the rest of the paid use of their add ons. If they choose to change their plan at the end of their current cycle, they’ll be able to continue using their paid add-ons until the end of the cycle.

No matter when the customer chooses to change their plan, any add-ons they have on their current plan will not be automatically added to their new plan, they’ll have to do this in the plan change flow.
